Hamburg's flea markets
Three markets come back every week. Flohdom Bahrenfelder Trabrennbahn goes twice a week on the open ground of the trotting track: mostly used goods, a smaller share of new stock. Flohdom Horner Rennbahn has been going on the racecourse since 2009, indoors in the grandstand building and, in fine weather, out on the grass too. Flohschanze, opposite U-Bahn Feldstraße, is the antiques-minded one: no new goods, and it goes ahead whatever the weather.
Evenings belong to the night markets. The one at the Rindermarkthalle in St. Pauli sets up on the forecourt twice a week from April to the end of October, with street food and live music; the one in the Gleishalle in Oberhafen comes once or twice a month under a full roof, so rain does not matter. Rarer is the Kulturflohmarkt at the Museum der Arbeit in Barmbek: seven times a year, from Easter to early October, from tables and clothes rails only.
